We use Booking.com for most UK stays thanks to the wide choice of hotels, apartments and guesthouses, competitive prices and useful reviews.
On this trip alone we have booked everything from village B&Bs to a night in the Mary, Queen of Scots room at Thornbury Castle, the only Tudor castle in England you can stay in, and many properties offer free cancellation, which is the feature we rely on most while an itinerary is still moving around.
VRBO
Prefer more space and privacy than a hotel. VRBO lists thousands of UK cottages, flats and family-friendly stays.

Airport transfers (London and beyond)
For a stress-free arrival after a long flight, consider pre-booking a private transfer rather than joining the taxi queue. We have used Riz of XFA Cars for many transfers from Heathrow into London and beyond, and he is our preferred partner for exactly that reason.
London transport payments (Oyster or contactless)
Pay as you go with an Oyster card or contactless bank card across the Tube, buses, Elizabeth line and trains in London. Daily caps apply automatically.
